Branding your work:
As designers, an online portfolio is a way of sharing your work with clients or prospective educational establishments. Portfolio layout, on screen design, choice of typeface, colour, gridding and the type of creative solutions you present will all tell an intimate story about you – without any actual  physical meeting, you, the designer or artist will always want this narrative to be the most convincing it can be.

Choosing a range of suitable Courses, investigating possibilities
Writing your personal statement.( Initial)  ( includes, draft checking, and uploading to your blog)
Creating an online presence
Starting to visit/ investigate Universities and other progression routes.
Creating an “interview ready portfolio” in preparation for your first interview

Investigate these pathways:

University Progression routes which suit your creative expression 2020
Full Time Employment in the creative industries
Apprentiships in the creative industries.
A thorough investigation will give you a personal opinion about your choices, and thereby, help you make an informed decision.
All initial investigation and research should be presented on a new blog, titled “Progression 2019”
(or similar)

The Portfolio:

A1– A2, Presentation Portfolio with Plastic Sleeves
Online Standalone Blog, Google Drive, Icloud
Printable PDF Hard Copy
The Physical and Digital portfolio will be made up from a selection of your best work, presented in an appropriate way.
Design portfolios give an insight into the abilities of the designer, they tell a story, what will yours say about you? A clean, precise portfolio will convey a sense of control and care, but, might also become sterile and uninspiring! Remember, those seeing your portfolio will have seen many thousands, yours needs to be “stand out”.
It should contain: -

Illustration, traditional and digital,
Photography,
Mixed Media,
Digital Design, incorporating, page layout, typographic design, on screen design,
Animation, 2d, 3d, physical and digital.

Any other experimental creative work which strengthens the creative narrative.
Both Niki and I are certain of these facts, a varied and well-presented portfolio is far more interesting and likely to get a positive response! All portfolios need  checking by Niki, or myself.

Primary Research
University and College Progression Routes, (Entry Requirements, Performance Tables, Viral Chatter)
Employment Progression Routes, (Agencies, Junior positions, Studios)
Apprenticeships, (Providers including Funding)

The Sketchbook
You are to keep a Sketchbook, a visual journal which documents your creative journey from initial thoughts to finished ephemera. All work will be critically reflected on and annotated.
Your sketchbook is not a commercially precious object, we expect to see a visual journey which has clear purpose, However, this is your third project, so we would also like to see a structured sketchbook, with 3 distinct phases: -
Discovery/Research.
Concept/ idea development.
Final artefacts, production.
